Donate to the CLRSS

There are two donation programs which you can participate in:

General Donations

The CLRSS is a non-profit, volunteer run society.   As such, all funds donated go directly to the running of the Society and no funds are used to remunerate our volunteers.   Our financial needs are not significant however they do exist.  We are dependent upon donations and membership dues to fund the day to day running of the Society.  We would be grateful for your support.

If you would like to donate to the Society, please send your cheque, made payable to the Cowichan Lake and River Stewardship Society, to:

Gerald Thom Environmental Studies Bursary

On July 26, 2014 our inspirational President, Gerald Thom, after carefully preparing the site on previous days, spent the day with a large crew of volunteers planting and watering hundreds of native plants at the Lake Cowichan First Nations land on North Shore Road.  This is the work he loved.  Tragically, within a few hours of the completion of the project, Gerald was killed in a plane crash.

His stellar leadership, broad knowledge of environmental concerns, enthusiasm for projects undertaken and myriad connections left the CLRSS well positioned to fulfil his vision and to make a difference in the community.  In 2015, to honour his substantial contributions to ecological restoration, environmental education and advocacy, the CLRSS board established the Gerald Thom Environmental Studies Bursary be awarded to deserving Lake Cowichan School students.  The annual value of the bursary is $1,000.00 (one thousand dollars).

In an effort to create an everlasting bursary fund, the CLRSS would appreciate your financial support.  lf you wish to foster Gerald's legacy and encourage our keen young students to a become aware of and directly involved in, the protection and preservation of our precious watershed ecosystems, please make a donation to the Gerald Thom Environmental Studies Bursary Fund.

To donate, download and print the donation form, complete the form and follow the directions to return it along with your cheque.  The CLRSS cannot directly issue tax receipts for donations, however we have an arrangement with Cowichan Lake School to do so.  So, if receiving a tax receipt is important to you then please pay particular attention to the "cheque payable" directions on the form.  However you donate, one hundred percent of your donation will provide financial assistance to a local student enrolled in post secondary studies on environmental issues.
